back to oils

Duo Tone 12x24 oil
Yes I intended to split this painting in half.

diff pastel setup

Summer Canal 9x12 pastel
Farm Silo 11x14 pastel
I was frustrated with my pastel set up so I dug out an old Mabef oil box and tore out all the separators ad stuffed as many pastel sticks into it as possible. The next step was to  find a way to make it portable. That was the hard part. I ended up just sticking it into an old aluminum tripod. I seems to work ok. When the weather warms up I will have to give it a field try out. The board is 1/8" masonite coated with clear acrylic gesso made for pastels. I'm just loving the texture. In the past it was hard to deal with but now it feels good.

finished paintings after studies

Right Place Wrong Time 11x14 oil
impressionist style
Right Place Wring Time 2 11x14 oil
expressionist style
I named these because I was wanting to fish this stream but didn't have the time to. It is on the west side of RMNP. The studies I did led to the question of would it look good as an impressionist style or as an expressionist style. I think they both work. So which one do you like?
