PAAC paint out at Delaney Farm Aurora

Delaney Farm 9x12 oil plein air
Painting with the PAAC. Lovely day, even if it is a little cold. The thermometer said 24 deg when I started at 8:30 am but by 10 it was in the low 40's. Nice day to paint.

Mathews Winters Park 11x14 oil plein air
Painting with the PAAC. Overcast day with the temperatures in the 40's. Not a bad day. Just not as cheerful as it usually is. Trying some different composition ideas as well as brush work. Seems to be going ok. What do you think?

S. Platte Park 2 - 9x12 oil studio
The last painting from the plain air with PAAC left me a little disappointed so I decided to paint it again using the old painting as reference.  This looks more like a cold day.

Here is the side by side comparison.

S. Platte Park 9x12 oil plein iar
Painting with the PAAC today on a blustery day. Kinda cold, overcast and definitely windy. Not the ideal conditions but a great way to get ready for winter painting. A quick sketch that needs a lot of attention. lol

Cari Pastel on strathmore charcoal paper painted at Terry Ludwig Studios - always working with challenges. It you change or alter one little thing everything else ends up needing changed. Ah, there are good days and then there are not, lol.

Pastel painting with Pastel Society of CO

Rock Creek Farm 1 11x14 pastel plein air - on prepared Wallas
Rock Creek Farm 1 9x12 pastel - on prepared Uart

What a beautiful day to paint. This little gem of a spot is just a little bit south of Boulder CO. Couldn't ask for a nicer day and it is the middle of Nov. Temperature was great with a little bit of a breeze and the sun shining enough to keep out backs warm.  I could do this every day.

Amy - pastel - what fun and a challenge to paint Amy. She is 4 months pregnant and had great energy in her quick poses. This long pose was also a challenge because it is really hard to get into the same position after every break.

Kountze Lake Belmar Park 9x12 plein iar
Painting with the PAAC Nice afternoon to paint. I didn't know this place was here. I will have to go back, although it is a little bit of a drive.

Bear Creek Backlight 5x7 oil
It seems funny that I am going backwards. I have been working to paint larger and here I am painting this at 5x7 from an old 16x20 that I did a few years ago. A quick warm up painting.

Chief Hosa 9x12 oil plein air
Painting with PAAC this morning. It is good to see so many getting out and enjoying the great weather. The Buffalo were out but I couldn't get myself to paint them. Maybe next time. I went up the road to the Genesee Park area and found this quiet spot with the mountain view.

Plein Air Moab

Plein Air Moab was a gas. A great location with awesome painters. I had a great time sharing beers with new friends and old.
100N & Main St   11x14 oil  Quick Draw - sold purchase award
I nearly went deaf when the semi trucks passed by. Ended up having to wear ear plugs.
Red Cliff Lodge and Winery 9x12 oil Quick Draw - sold purchase award
The owner selected this painting because he had spent lots of time here in the garage working on the truck on the left.
Park Avenue 12x16 oil Honorable mention
I couldn't keep the tourists from stopping and asking for a photo of me and the scene.
Canyon Color 11x14 oil plein air
Carl Bork and I found this nice spot in the morning. I think we painted 2 each out of this lovely location on 313 up to Canyon Lands
Chess Match 16x12 oil  - Carl, Karen and I painted here on the side of the road in the afternoon.
Its A Butte 11x14 oil - what a terrible name, but just couldn't think of anything else. Probably why it didn't sell, lol
Had a great time painting and dining with Carl Bork, Karen Watkins, drinking Josh Been, Carl Ortman, Jason Prigge, Richard Szkutnik, and many other. Wow, the life of an artist, painting all day, partying until its time to get some sleep. The younger artists stayed up longer into the night. I had to get some sleep.  Paint - eat/drink - sleep - repeat  Gotta love it.

CMPAF Salida

St Elmo Aspens 9x12 oil plein air at the Colorado Plein Air Festival - sold
The Arroyo 11x14 oil plein air at the CMPAF

What a great time painting with Carl Bork and Joshua Been and Barry Thomas and another guy whom I forgot his name. Sorry. Then to cool down, we went and had some beers before the show opening. Fishing in the morning, painting and good conversations with new friends, and a show in the evening, who could ask for a better day. Oh and a sale to boot. Pretty close to heaven.
