This sketch was painted at Colorado Rail Road Museum in Golden. The day was partly cloudy and so chasing the light was an interesting task. The challenge of measuring more and painting less is a chore that will take some time becoming proficient at, but there are signs of improvement. This painting will also be reworked as some of the shapes are just not interesting. The sun would come out and I would take my jacket off and then it would go behind a cloud and the jacket and gloves would be put back on. Doug Dawson's ASLD class was at the museum at the same time as the PAAC group. What a fun group of people. I got to talk to some people that I haven't seen in a while, like Doug, Wayne, Norbert, and even spoke with Leslie. Good to see her out again. A watercolorist in the PAAC group said she couldn't paint because her paints froze to the brush. She said she forgot the glycerin. Fun, fun, fun.

Here is the before and after image of the painting at Wash Park. I think I learned a lot about measuring more carefully. And not forgeting to bring gloves. It was only my fingers and ears that got cold but it effected my concentration.

No image today. The painting at Washington Park was not one I was fond of. I am trying something different and so the painting turned out poorly. I will re work it and post it later. It is of the boathouse and I am trying to discipline myself to be more accurate. The temperature was in the mid 30's but the air felt a lot colder. Must be the wind chill. Fingers and ears felt it the most. Yea, that's it, I couldn't feel my fingers, yea, that's why the painting was poor. he he he yea, that's it. :-)

Hi and good morning, This oil sketch is done at the Clear Creak History Center in Golden. It reminds me of a Hallmark Card so it probably won't get past the recycle box. It is a beautiful day in Golden with temperatures warm enough to go with out a sweater. Around 10 to 12 people that showed up, from the PAAC group and CAG members and the Pastel Society of Colorado showed up and we all love the sun. There were lots of hikers that stopped by to admire the work on the path way along the stream.

Happy New Year - This is a painting from the Aurora Jewel Wet Lands. It was fun playing hide and seek with th sun. What drew me to this spot was the warm scrub willow bushes. Last week was really cold and cloudy at Roxborough and so no painting was done, but the hiking was nice and the picture taking was fun. See you next week at Clear Creek History Park.
